Overpass replace Anubis in CS2

Everyone was expecting a big change coming to Counter-Strike 2 as Season 2 of Premier came to an end - and that's exactly what we got.

As Season 3 has now begun, a huge update to the game has brought iconic map Overpass back into the Active Duty map pool.

Overpass, which left the map pool in April 2024, has replaced Anubis in the map pool, with the outgoing map being the second least played map in big events thus far in 2025.

That wasn't the only change, though, the CT economy has also seen some much needed changes, while the way trading works has also been adjusted.

Let's take a look at the full update.

Overpass returns to CS2
With changes made to Overpass a while ago, the map won't be quite how you remember it to be when you get into your next game.

However, for the most part, the classic map will still be the same. You can expect it to play the same way, and expect that AWPers will still be able to terrorise the T side as they attempt to take map control towards the A bombsite.

The map it's replacing Anubis, leaves the map pool after almost three years, with it being added to the Active Duty pool in November following the conclusion of the IEM Rio Major 2022.

A map that was always divisive, Anubis was often criticised for it's T side win rate, which sat at 57.2% in big events in 2025. For context, that's 3.5% more than the next closest map, Dust2, which is a huge margin at the pro level.

Reactions to the change are divided, with people both happy to see Overpass return but also sad to see Anubis leave the map pool.

CT changes
There have been a multitude of changes for the CT side in the new update, including the Incendiary Grenade now having quicker spread.

Don't worry Anubis and Inferno B players, there's hope for you yet.

The CT economy has also seen a buff, with each player on the team now receiving $50 for every enemy player eliminated within a round.

There's no real telling how this will effect gameplay yet, but it's a positive sign, and hopefully it will make an impact on the oppressive state of the economy in CS2 right now.

However, the CTs haven't gotten away without a nerf - the MP9 has seen it's spray increased as well as it's jumping accuracy reduced.

Trading changes
Trading has seen a huge change that will protect people from scams or losing their account - trades can now be reversed within a week of them happening.

In the release for the update, Valve said:

Today we are introducing a new feature to help keep your Counter-Strike items secure. In the unlikely event that you lose control of your account or were the target of a scam by a bad actor, you may reverse all Counter-Strike item trades from the last 7 days.
Obviously we hope you'll never need it, but you can review your recent trades and find the trade reversal feature on the Trade History page on your Steam Account.

They also added an FAQ for queries on how the process will work, but it doesn't seem like there's much of a process at all, at least according to Anomaly.
