What is DC++?

**DC++** stands for **Direct Connect** and is a peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing protocol. It works by connecting users to centralized **Hubs** (like ours!) where members share their files. It's a structured and community-focused alternative to decentralized networks.

Unlike torrents, DC++ allows for direct chat, user-to-user file transfers, and browsing a user's entire share list, fostering a sense of community and making finding specific files much easier. It's known for being fast and having excellent control over who you connect with.

How to Connect to dc.mod.vg

Joining is simple! First, you need a DC++ client (see the next section), then follow these steps:

Sharing and Hub Requirements

The DC++ network is built on reciprocity. To download files, you **must** be sharing files.

Minimum Requirements:

An active DC++ client (installed).
A stable internet connection.
A minimum amount of **shared files** (e.g., 5GB or 10GB, check hub motd for specifics).

How to Setup Sharing:

Open your DC++ client's **Settings** > **Sharing** tab.
Click **Add Folder** and select the directory containing the files you wish to share (e.g., movies, music, software).
Ensure the folder is listed and save your settings.
Reconnect to the hub-your share will now be visible to other users.
